バイオグラフィー（日本語）

1980年米国アリゾナ州・フェニックス生まれ。

4歳よりピアノを始め、高校に入るまでにはアリゾナ・ヤマハ・ピアノコンクールを含む10以上のクラシックピアノコンクールで優勝。

14歳の時に”作曲”と”即興”への情熱を見いだし、高校のジャズバンドに入部。そこでまたたく間にジャズの才能を開花させ、まもなくフェニックスの至る所でDennis RolandやJesse McGuireなどアリゾナ屈指のジャズミュージシャン達と共演。

全額給与のジャズ奨学金を受け、アリゾナ州立大学へ入学。そこではクラシックピアノをReyna Aschaffenberg、ジャズピアノをChuck Mahronicより習う。

また、Kenny Werner、Fred Hersch、Phil Strange、Uri Caine、Angie Sanchezからはプライベートレッスンを受ける。

マンハッタン即興音楽学校、Henry Mancini研究所、カナダ・バンフ夏季ジャズワークショップへの参加もすべて奨学金を受け参加。

2000年、”Julius Hemphill ジャズ作曲コンクール”で絶賛され、2007年には、アメリカ全土からたった５人のみ選ばれる”Cole Porter Jazz Piano Fellowship”ファイナリストのうちの１人に選ばれる。

Tony Malaby、Terence Blanchard、Mard Dresser、Brian Allen、Kohji Fujika、Coppe、DJ Kensei、Martin Denny、Ricky Woodard、Abe Lagrimas等のアーティストと世界各地でツアー、レコーディング経験がある。

2009年5月に日本へ移住後、新星堂のレコードレーベルである"株式会社オーマガトキ"よりCDを4枚リリースする。

また、溝口肇、畠山美由紀、TOKU、樹里からん等有名アーティストとの共演もはたす。

読売新聞掲載、そしてJazz Japan、Chopin Magazineといった有名音楽雑誌に掲載された他、

音楽雑誌Piano StyleではJacob自らがアレンジした楽譜と音源、そしてインタビューが特集された。

2010年の冬には、日本のヤマハ音楽教室で自身の情熱でもある"編曲"についてのアレンジセミナーを開催した。

Biography (English)

At the age of 4 Jacob Koller began studying classical piano. Before entering high school he won over 10 classical piano competitions including the Arizona Yamaha Piano Competition.

In high school he devloped a new passion for jazz and improvisation. He began working professionally in the Phoenix area from the age of 14, playing with the finest jazz musicians in the valley including Dennis Roland, Jesse Mcguire, Margo Reid, Dwight Killian, Dom Moio, and Fred Forney. He attended Arizona State University on a full jazz scholarship and studied under Chuck Mahronic.

He has also studied privately with world class pianists such as Kenny Werner, Fred Hersch and Uri Caine and has performed all around the globe with the likes of Mark Dresser, Terrence Blanchard, Tony Malaby and Martin Denny.

Jacob moved to Japan and 2009 and since coming to Japan he has recorded 4 CD’s for Shinseido’s Record Label Omagatoki. He has also worked with many top notch Japanese musicians including Hajime Mizoguchi, Miyuki Hatakeyama, Toku and Julee Karan. He has been featured in magazines including Jazz Japan, Chopin Magazine and Yomiuri Newspaper. Jacob has also done clinics in Japan at Yamaha Music School and his arrangements have been featured in Piano Style Magazine.
